Beyond the Price Tag
Most resellers look at "Sold" listings on eBay and think they have the full picture. But in 2026, the most successful operators know that historical price is a lagging indicator. To find the "Alpha" in the resale market, you need to look at future demand.
What is a Liquidity Score?
At ZZ Tips, we’ve developed a framework that treats physical inventory like a tradable security. We look at the Liquidity Score—a metric derived from three core data points:
-
Search Velocity: Is the search volume for a specific model (e.g., "PowerMac G4 Cube") trending up or down over a 90-day window?
-
Keyword Competition: How many professional refurbishers are bidding on these terms?
-
The Yield Gap: The difference between the local auction "hammer price" and the global digital market value.
Predicting the "Flip Speed"
By monitoring search volume spikes through our proprietary dashboard, we can identify "Resurgence Cycles." For example, when a legacy Apple product hits a 25th anniversary, search volume often spikes 300% before the eBay prices catch up.
Using the Google Ads API (currently in development for our internal tools), we are building a system that alerts our sourcing team the moment an asset class moves from "Stagnant" to "High-Velocity."
